Help Bruce Support His Wife’s Stroke Recovery On Thursday, August 14th, Bruce returned home late from a work trip and went to bed—unaware that the next morning would change everything. Just a few hours later, his wife, Dawn, woke up to take their dog outside. But something was wrong. She became weak and couldn’t open the door to get back inside. Alone in the garage, she sat down, then eventually lay down, unable to move. She had suffered a stroke. Three hours later, Bruce woke and began searching for her. He found Dawn collapsed in the garage—exhausted, dehydrated, and too weak to call for help. He immediately called a close friend and longtime coworker who had previously worked as a paramedic. Within minutes, his friend arrived, assessed the situation, and urged Bruce to call for an ambulance. At the hospital, doctors discovered a clot—one that could neither be removed nor reduced. The stroke had already taken its toll, stealing something precious from their lives in an instant. Now, Bruce is doing everything he can to hold onto what matters most: the chance for Dawn to recover and for them to return home together. Bruce has been a dedicated, exceptionally hard-working independent contractor specializing in Telecom, Networking and IT for over 15 years at Kindred Healthcare. As an independent contractor Bruce’s insurance through his contract agency and must be maintained even when he can’t work during this time. ________________________________________ A Life of Giving, Now in Need For nearly a decade, Dawn has devoted her time to volunteering with families of those struggling with addiction—offering support, compassion, and a listening ear. She has given so much of herself to others: • Always the one to answer the phone when someone was in need • Always ready to show up for those going through their darkest moments Now, the person who has been there for so many is the one in need of care and support. ________________________________________ Why We’re Asking for Help Her condition is serious, and her recovery will require time, care, and constant support. Bruce is now fully focused on being by her side. But as a traveling independent contractor, this means he cannot work—and without work, there’s no income.
